Eczema
Eczema is a common skin condition that weakens your skin’s barrier function meaning your skin doesn’t retain moisture very well.
This can lead to dry, itchy and bumpy skin. Eczema can affect any part of your body, but it’s commonly found on the hands and wrists, face and in the creases of your elbows, behind your knees and on the ankles. Eczema is more common in people with a history of asthma or hay fever, or a family history of these conditions.
SOLUTIONS MAY INCLUDE:
Treatment for eczema involves avoiding irritants that can dry out the skin. These include hot water and regular soaps, and applying moisturisers to the skin. Topical corticosteroids may also be used. In some cases systemic medications or phototherapy may be appropriate. Your dermatologist will be able to advise the best treatment for you.
