Face & Neck Lift
Neck lift surgery may reduce excess skin or fatty tissue, and lift sagging skin….etc.
When people refer to facelifts, they are generally speaking about rhytidectomy. Rhytidectomy literally means ‘excision of wrinkles’, a term which was first used when surgeons basically excised a strip of skin in front of the ears and pulled the skin tight over the face. Over time, as plastic surgeons learned more about the ‘pathology’ of ageing, facelift techniques became more advanced, manipulating not only the skin, but also the muscle layer (the SMAS), the fat pockets and the supporting ligaments of the face.
There are a number of techniques that focus on one or more of these anatomical elements individually, and broadly speaking they can be divided into: midface lifts, neck lifts or full-facelifts (a combination of both). In addition to this, a mini-facelift may use a part of either of these techniques. Following a detailed assessment by your surgeon, a procedure that suits your aesthetic needs will be discussed with you. As with any aesthetic (cosmetic) procedure it is always a good idea to spend some time in the mirror prior to your initial consultation. Look at your entire face and then take notes about specific things that you might want addressed. Giving prior thought to such matters, and even writing it down, will make your time with the surgeon much more productive. But don’t worry, we will spend as much time as necessary to find out exactly what you want.
